My genealogical summary of everything I have found using contacts with Kapp family members known to me, Ancestry.com, FamilySearch.org (the Mormons), FindAGrave.com (a site based primarily on graveyards) and a few others.

I have used a style I have invented to make clear the generations involved in the families herein. And, I have chosen to start with those who first immigrated to the American colonies where possible. In the descriptions below, the leading number in curly braces - {} - preceding each primary entry is my arbitrary Generation Number in order to help keep the various generations straight. In this study, I worked backwards from my generation {15} to align this study with that of my other family genealogies. Any listed child who appears later as a member of the next generation will simply have the years of birth & death and a reference to the next generation such that all pertinent information about that individual is in one place. Also, child of, daughter of and son of are shortened to c/o, d/o and s/o and born, died, & married are abbreviated to b. d. and m. I use the tilde (~) to indicate circa, the modern-day 2-character postal code for states and colonies, incl. for including, Cty. for county and Twp. is used for township. In working with genealogy, it has always been my goal to trace back ancestors to the first who immigrated to the North American continent. Therefore, I highlight where those immigrants were born and make no attempt to trace their parentage.

Several of the ancestors below immigrated from central Europe from an area which became the nation of Germany (along with a small part of Switzerland). However, It was not a nation until the dissolution of the Holy Roman Empire in 1806 though the HRE had been populated by various Germanic and Swiss tribes for centuries. Also, several ancestors lived in early New York and it should be noted that what we know as New York was founded in the early 1600's by the Dutch as New Netherland Colony (Nieuw-Nederland in Dutch) (which I abbreviate as NN below) and, during the 2nd Anglo-Dutch War, was taken over by the British in 1664 when it was renamed the Province of New York. Also, what we now know as Brooklyn (or Breucklen under the Dutch) on Long Island (Lange Eylandt in Dutch) was broken up into several small towns, such as Bushwick (Boswijck), Flatlands (Nieuw Amersfoort) and Flatbush (Midwout), until they were consolidated into the city of Brooklyn in 1854, which in turn was consolidated into New York City in 1898. And Manhattan was known as New Amsterdam under the Dutch. I should add that the Crown Colony of Carolina was split into North and South Carolina in 1712.
